I may not have been the first but probably one of the first to say that Google will buy Twitter. I think that even an Twitter investor could testify i said that would happen when i declared him so a few months ago
I have always thought it is a perfect fit, and so does seem to think Google. I wrote a long post here about the reasons. But in one word: Real Time search and discovery. A new search category Google can't build by himself because it requires a growing passionate communite of link sharers/clickers. Something a spider or an algorythm can t substitute
The second reason is that it is a perfect fit in the communication tools offered by the company in particular in Gmail (offering already chat). All other reasons are decoration items.
Of course Eric Schmidt would not declare that on TV, when asked. But you could guess there was something going on in the way he answered
From a user point of view, i wish this will happen.
