I am spending most of my time with startups. Trying to spot talents. Not sure i am doing this right for now. but this is my job. I also spent a lot of time trying to promote startups that i do not invest in. On my blogs, in events i organize or participate in. This is fun. This is what i like
But i do it in only one field, the one i think i know best: the internet. There is another field i know a little, which is music. In particular, jazz and piano (although i am a huge fan of classical music, funk, electronic and bossa nova). I met a year ago Yaron Herman an Israeli jazz pianist that lives in Paris (opposite of me) and that has already issued 3 discs. I write about him often.
Yaron and I became friends and we talked at least once a week. I think he's a talent. A huge talent. When he told me a few months ago he was preparing a new album i suggested my help to use what i know of the internet to try to help him promote his new upcoming disc (A time for everything) , just in a way startups are being promoted.
He and his agent gladly accepted and i am happy to say that during the next coming days and weeks i will be experimenting a few tricks i learned and observed in the internet to see what impact they have when it comes to music.
This is going to be fun. and certainly a great experience for me too. I will report here how things go.
Stay tuned for more soon
This should be an interesting experiment to watch.
On the jazz music front, if you are in New York, you need to catch Anat Cohen live. She is a phenomenal sax and clarinet player.

hey, interesting experiment for sure. looking forward to read about the findings.
Lots of paths to utilize current web experiences and social tools to raise awareness and encourage crowds participation around music releases. There's an interesting potential in mashing it up with traditional tech-news oriented techniques.
Btw, first thing to start might be to include a player streaming a killer sample from his album in this post - so we can listen instantly and be intrigued for what's next :)
