Right now Twitter is bar far my favorite web app and my favorite channel of communication. I don't care that most people don't get it or that even they don't have a business model, i don't care Jaiku/Pownce/Your next idea is better, and even (yes, EVEN) that they have several downtimes a week.
One of the reason i like so much this application is that it enables me to do valuable things i would have NEVER been able to do with other means of communications including blogs.
One live example that happened today.
- I arrived in Munich this am earlier around 10 am than expected and had some time to kill
- with no real objective i asked in Twitter advice for a cool wifi coffee
- 2 min later Heiko i actually wanted to meet for a long time suggests a coffee
- 1 min later we agreed on place to meet
- at 12 am we were meeting in Munich
But it is was not only a meeting, it was a GREAT meeting. We talked about many interesting things and maybe some business could come out of it.
In order to reach the same level of productivity and quality i would have had to produce MUCH MORE efforts with my blog or my personal mail in order for this to happen. So you'll tell me SO WHAT? you could have been doing something else? right. But getting so much with so little effort is what i like
I could list many other cases i have experienced with twitter (i have seen a guy finding his internship thanks to a link i posted about him there, i have received the best answers to questions i asked, even google could not do better...)
I love twitter because it enables me to connect and interact better with people i care. But for that you have to know how to use twitter well....
my pleasure! let's meet again soon.

Yeah, sure : Twitter is a powerful social application. I wrote an article too about Twitter interest and proximity. In my case, I never organized a meeting with Twitter guys but I would like if I would live in Paris. The real interest of Twitter is that it's a human network.
Here's my last blogpost about microblogging if you're interested to see how an unknown guy built a little network on it (in french) : http://www.libert-fr.com/blog/post/2007/07/04/Linteret-du-microblogging-comme-outil-de-networking-par-lexemple
