I had the bad surprise to discover this morning that Facebook forces you to declare where you know someone from when you received an invitation. Instead of improving their invitation system, they just make it worse (actually they started to make it slightly better). I am sure this won't last long
I understand why they want to do that: in order to have a better qualified database to enrich the social features they are building and improve interconnection with people.
But this is arrogance in my view to force people to do that and assume that because they are on a hot wave this will be accepted. I will tell FaceBook how i know such a person ONLY if i want to.
So in the meantime i decided to check the box "i never heard of that person" even for my best friends. Ridiculous
update: a few hour later Facebook decided to move back to where it was and placed the button "Skip this step" back again. I still think this is not good enough. The good news FaceBook listens, the bad they listen not good enough
Or you can just click on "Cancel" and it will be ok. It surprised me too but as it works, it isn't finally so bad.

in my view this is not good enough
first "cancel" to approve a invitation is far from being ...appropriate
second i want to decide if i want or not this screen to appear. this should be an option and Facebook should add at the bottom a check box with "do not show this screen automatically" + add a permanent option by each invitation in case you want to add it

You're right. This would be great but at least you can still add friends without having to choose how you know them.
What about a blank field where we could write our own decription ?...

The worst is that most of the time you cannot select something from this dialog box. Let's say I met a VC guy about an investment in my start-up, what should I select? Or if I work with someone, why the choice is worked in the past tense ?
