I already told you, i love the iPod i hate iTunes (and the forced download of Quictime). I found in the past a great free alternative with Yamipod which enables you to download also songs from your iPod to your computer.
I have found a new free alternative
SongBird (with a weird URL songbirdnest.com) has a new version with an iPod plugin that lets you manage your whole iPod library including playlist and podcasts (something yamipod does not do well). Unfortunately it does not enable (yet)to copy iPod music to your computer.
SongBird is a great music Browser. I dumped it when it launched as it was really buggy but now it got really better. It really is great to search and listen online music. User experience cannot be described you have to use it. They also got a round of funding with Sequoia Capital. Full demo here (or below). Donwload here
Thanks for the kind words!
FYI, it's "Songbird" without the capital 'b'.
Best regards, Rob

I still don't understand why we can't transfer music from iPod to iTunes ?!?
iTunes will be (when iPhone will be available) the main tool to manage everything on a Mac (and maybe a PC).
They should work to make it "State of the Art" to keep their leadership... No ?
I love Apple, but their strategy to "make their products secure" (eg. iPhone) really bothers me.
