For the first time, tomorrow 27 january 2006 is holocaust memorial day: an event held in UK but of international scale to never forget and also for anyone who would try to suggest that the Shoah never existed or was just a myth
Holocaust Memorial Day is about commemorating all the communities who suffered as a result of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution, and demonstrating that the Holocaust is relevant to everyone in the UK today. The Day provides a focus - through the national event and local events and activities – for people to think about the continuing repercussions of the Holocaust on our society.
Ceremony was held today 26 january at United Nations.
To find out what is that day go here and to know more about that event and the Shoah it is there.
PS: the date chosen matches the liberation of auschwitz camp but I wonder why this event did not match the date of yom hashoah, the day dedicated to remember the holocaust and celebrated by jews all over the world which takes place usually in April in the jewish calendar.
