This 1000tags thing is catching my attention. I decided to track it and see how far it goes.
I was curious to check if 1000tags if catching up and got to alexa. At the same time the guys at 1000tags had the same idea and guess what already in position 4080 just in 3 days.
It the concept catching up by himself? is it just a trend? Is the “DIGG EFFECT” responsible? I read recently (thanks alain) that most of the success of the milliondollarhomepage could be attributed to digg.com combined with alexa exposure. Quoting press direct international article on the subject.
“When Milliondollarhomepage.com was deluged with tens of thousands of visitors from Digg.com, during the second week of September 2005, the site flew up the Alexa rankings and subsequently reached the “Movers and Shakers” section on Alexa’s homepage. This exposed the Milliondollarhomepage.com to literally millions of eyeballs who visit Alexa each day. “
Right now 1000tags is on digg, but does not generate so much hype. But still alexa ranking is fine. Let s follow that up
Evaggelos, kindly indicated in my blog that forevertags is a similar concept implemented in a different “better” way. Up to you to judge.
What's exactly better about that forever tags? Not only they are copycats and that page looks like anything but a tag cloud (it's so web 1.0), but they registered the domain two days after 1000tags made it to TechCrunch (that's 3-4 days ago), then in their FAQ they talk about "it took them so long to build the site".
Well now we know they're lying to their success. How does that make them better? I got a tag on 1000tags, but won't even mention that other site anywhere except for stating the obvious.
Oh well, within a week we'll have who knows how many buy-a-tag sites. It's inevitable I guess.

When i said "better" i was quoting his comments made on my previous posts. I am not sure it is better indeed and i am also sure indeed there will be many copycats soon

Hi,
I began working on TagSponsor.com about 2 months ago, unfortunately i had limited time to complete the idea and 1000tags launched shortly before i did. However, the site is now live and i think you can tell that this site hasn't been knocked up quickly in response to 1000tags.
Drop by and take a look if you like,
Thanks,

Hi!
I have found something interesting. Its name is Dredi and it seems to be a new way to navigate the net by changing how people access a web.
"With this service, the owner of a web with the adress 'http://www.hostname.com/section/username/' could buy an easy to remember drediword linking this adress. By entering that word in the dredi webpage, users will be instantly redirected to 'http://www.hostname.com/section/username/'".
I am skeptical about this but it is quite original idea.
Check it on http://www.dredi.com
See u!
