I like coffee very much. I drink in general twice a day. i tried many different coffees in many places in the world including starbucks and all over Italy. I bought sometime ago a
nespresso coffee machine. It is not bad at all. But i must say i was totally bluffed by the coffee in Israel (and not because i live there).
Yes, the coffee in Israel is totally amazing and (it is hard to believe) much better than the coffee in France, Germany and even Italy (on average). How come? How this small country managed to become so good at doing that?
I don t really know. Maybe because coffee is a prime social drink and that social life is important in Israel. Maybe because Israelis travel a lot and they imported the "coffee culture". It is for sure not because of the raw material or coffee machines that are the same as the one used anywhere in the world (illy, mauro, lavazza,...) What i know is that they make it well. The espresso for example is always very hot, served with a twist of lemon on the side and most of the time without even asking for it with a couple of fresh coffee beans and a cold small glass of sparkling water. And the price is not a ridiculous 2/3 euros as you can find in Paris...
You can see in Israel
at least 6 networks (HUGE for a small country of 6 millions of people) of coffee house/bar of high quality:
Aroma cafe, Cafenetto, Arcaffe, Ilan's, Espresso Bar, Cup of Joe. I never was disappointed by a coffee or capuccino in Israel. They are so good that
My favourite is EspressoBar for taste and design. It is just impressive how country only 50 years old is so good at doing the simplest things better than its older brothers.
