Taittinger, the famous and prestigious champaign french company was sold to an american hedge fund. But here, on the opposite of the “Danone Episode” , the french political class has nothing to say. We can sell champaign to americans but not yogurts. Why???? Maybe Taittinger is not “French enough”? Maybe this world class company is not a “jewel of the french industry” as Prime minister De Villepin is claiming for Danone? Or maybe because the (political) interests are not the same: smaller company, less employees, less people drink champaign than eat yogurts…and therefore less benefits to make noise out of it….What a joke!
