Hundreds of polls, tv debates, newspaper, articles, blogs, … There was and will probably be a lot polemics and analysis of why french refused (nearly 55%) the proposal of european constitution. As far as i am concerned i would be interested in knowing one and only one fact: how many people who voted “yes” or “no” could honestly say that they knew what they were voting for. Would a poll institute be willing to ask that simple question.
- “Could you quote 3 articles of your choice of the proposal of constitution”
- or simply “Did you read it?”
- or finally “ Do you understand and can you explain it?”
I have been asking that question around me and nobody is able to answer. I am sure there would be a lot of surprise if that poll was run nationally. And therefore the question would be: what is the value of such a referendum if nobody really knows what they are voting for?
Therefore i am using my blog to ask those questions above, asking my readers to answer here by “yes” or “no” to the questions above. let s see what happens
