The 2 media realities

As time passes by...There was a time Television and newspapers were my first (and even only) sources of information. I can still remember that period. For the last few years i have abandoned those and substituted them with internet, blogs, social networks and twitter. I still use Television and print Newspaper but as a support for entertainment and not for information

Each time i read or see a news on TV it is for me a repetition of something i already heard or know. For me, they always arrive too late. The 8pm/9pm prime time show is useless except for local non important news and the headlines of big print newspaper don't catch my attention anymore. It is not that they are not able to produce information fast (although there is more and more news not produced by big media cos), it is just that TV and print is not an adequate media for me anymore.

This is even funnier when i read an article about the internet that has a tone of discovery on products i have been using for months...or a viral videos that has been on the internet for ages and presented on TV.

And this feeling is not regarding only high tech news but all main areas. What are my sources today?

Blogs, RSS, Twitter, Social Networks, MemeTrackers (like Wikio i am shareholder of or TechMeme). I learn more and more breaking news from my friends, more than ever before.

Since i am an early adopter i don't think this is a mainstream fact.

But i bet it is going to become mainstream and therefore that big media firms should clearly start rethinking they distribution strategy, before other do it for them.
