Since everyone is getting blown away (me included) by the new iPhone (soon to change name i bet), i would like to remind that Apple already tried once to make a no keyboard pad, that was a total flop. The NEWTON a sort of ancester for the PDA. It has one 2 common point with the new iPhone it was supposed to revolutionnize the mobile information industry and had no keys.
Ok now the context is different and Apple rocks with iPod and iTunes. But my fear is that apple is building a new walled garden, enabling only transfer through iTunes, exclusively selling through Cingular, locking movies to mp4 format, and whatever else. All i want to say is that beyond the absolute beauty of its product i hope the iPhone will become as open as the Mac eventually became (enabling running windows).
I want an iPhone but unlocked and open to all digital formats. If Apple does not make it someone else will.
