This jazzcast has a very interesting story and is dedicated to Michel Graillier, a great jazz musician that used to be Chet Baker’s pianist. The tune i am playing is called Bill’s Heart.

M. Graillier probably composed this tune as a tribute to Bill Evans. My personnal story with this tune is very interesting and proves how much blogging can be powerful. This first time i heard “Bill’s Heart” was on a great solo recording called Fairly (one of my top 10 favourite jazz cd). I was immediately obsessed by this song and started to try to reproduce it on the piano. But i never managed. Although it sounds easy and simple, the harmonies are very unusual and sophisticated.
2 weeks ago i discovered Guy’s blog dedicated to jazz and music transcription. I notice he likes very much Michel Graillier and post a comment to know if he plans to publish something on this tune. I receive an email the same day where he explains me that i can find this tune in a music book that is only for sales in France. As i insist he kindly sends me the chords of the tune by email, enough for me to play the tune you are hearing right now.
I decided to play that tune as close as possible to the original version. No need for enrichment of new harmonies. It is just perfect like that. You can easily know it is me playing….a few wrong notes around.
Thanks Guy

Well, great, man.
A little bit classics playing, but its sounds like that.
Je vois qu'il ne faut pas trop provoquer les émigrés !!
Regards
Happy Christmas 2005

(I will send my own version as soon as I 'll have a recording set that sounds.)
