IMPORTANT MISSING BLOG TOOLS
If i was good enough in programming here is what i would develop to improve my blog:
- a rating system both for the post and the comments. A simple and anonymous one, without registration.
- a tracking system to know exactly what links are clicked on my blog and how many times a podcast cast has been played downloaded. Look at this blog it does it quite well
- an rss feature to track the comments of a post i have contributed to (or by writting or by commenting it) so i can know exactly for example if someone reacted to my comment without returning to the blog
- a desktop tool to easily change and update typelists without having to return to my typepad web plateform
- a built-in poll system advertising free. I don t want to spoil my readers with advertising
- a built-in search tool that will search this blog and offer alternatives in the web within the frame of my blog (like the blogbar)
- a blog health indicator: visual parameters for the reader to know how active is the blog. Total posts, comments, trackbacks, number of visits, total links clicked. Useful for first time visitors
- Scroll down menus for categories and archives instead for links. useful for blogs that have move than a year and more than 15 categories
- tag clouds showing up a cloud of the most used word all through the blog
- A bottom frame to place icons services (creative commons..) and navigations menus to previous posts
- A top frame to place in tab menus other blogs owned by the blogger or the most relevant categories
I am definitely convinced that the guys who will bring those tools in a nice packaging will gain IMMEDIATE success
